This is my daughter Avery Ferguson. She graduates  from St. Edward’s University in two weeks, and then, it’s off to Chicago to  pursue a career in acting. I think she’s damned talented. But, then again I would, I’m her dad!

Recently, I directed her in a commercial for the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department.  It was a tough gig. She had to run down the Katy Trail and wave. She’s a helluva runner and waver.

It seems like yesterday when she would dress in her “Tinker Bell” outfit and put on a show for mom and dad. Over the years, I have also watched her bring some amazing parts to life. I never know what I am going to see when I go to one of her shows. She has been a man, a zombie, and a lunatic, just to name a few. Once,  she played the part a teenage girl  who wound up pregnant and eventually committed suicide. It was tough to watch. After the show, the lady sitting in front of me turned to another patron and said, “that little girl is either a great actress or had one one screwed up childhood!”  I wanted to say, “both” but kept my mouth shut. Recently, she starred in a St. Ed’s production of “On The Verge” that was as good as anything I had seen on Broadway, well, Off-Broadway.

Like I said, now it’s off to Chicago. Break a leg, Ave!
