There are “alternative” ways to get attention…

I really enjoy alternative media. It’s what we used to do all the time back when I first got into the agency business. Most of the clients at smaller shops don’t have a lot of money. They they were look for “alternative”ways of getting their message to the masses. Once I worked at a agency where we had a client who made keys.  I came up with the idea of putting someone in a car on Greenville Avenue and they would hold up a sign that said, “I’m locked inside, please call 555-1212.” I thought it was brillant, until someone suggested they simply unlock their car from the inside.  That was the funny part! But no one got it, but me.

Anyways, one of the best places to see some great ideas are at Media Life in the alternative media section. Take a look. I particularly like the first article about the discount airline broker. A simple, wonderful way to get the message to consumers.
